Dr Julie Rickwood is an academic and practitioner in music and performance studies, affiliated with The Australian National University's School of History. She holds a PhD in Interdisciplinary Cross-Cultural Research (2013) and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching (2002). Her research focuses on popular music, community music practices, gender studies, environmental activism, and ecochoreography. She has published widely, co-editing Popular Music, Stars and Stardom (2018), and contributes to environmental history research through her affiliation with the Centre for Environmental History.

She leads the interdisciplinary project Rediscovering the Deep Human Past (2018–2025), examining global networks in prehistory.
