Dr. Julie Pond is an Associate Professor of English at Shorter University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences, where she also serves as Director of the Honors Program. She holds a Ph.D. from Illinois State University (2012), an M.A. from Georgia State University (2008), and a B.A. from the University of Georgia (2004).

Her research focuses on children's literature, southern identity, and adolescent fiction, with particular emphasis on genre resistance, regional representation, and ideological frameworks in literary works. She has taught courses on Southern Literature, Children's Literature, and American Literature.
Dr. Pond's scholarly output includes publications analyzing adolescent characters in Harper Lee's novels, Lois Lenski's regional maps, and the intersection of fate and free will in the Harry Potter series. Her conference presentations span topics from Margaret Wise Brown's picture books to the ethics of children's literature.
