Julie N. Renner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Case Western Reserve University and Dean's Fellow for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Case School of Engineering. She holds the P. Anne Hiltner and Debra L. Wilfong Designated Professorship. Her research focuses on developing engineered polypeptides to control solid-liquid interfaces for applications in environmental remediation, energy, and biomaterials. Key achievements include NSF CAREER and Toyota Young Investigator awards, alongside impactful contributions to STEM education and outreach.
Education: BS (Chemical Engineering, University of North Dakota, 2007), PhD (Chemical Engineering, Purdue University, 2012), Postdoctoral Research at Proton OnSite (2014).
Research Interests: Biomolecular platforms for resource recovery, peptide-based sensors, and sustainable technologies. Notable students include Geeta Verma, Sogol Asaei, and Jacob D. Hostert. Collaborative projects span electrochemistry, membrane engineering, and environmental applications.
