Julie Jacobsen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health - Department of Health Services Research at Aarhus University's Faculty of Health Sciences. She also serves as a Senior Researcher at the Department of Public Health - Research Unit for General Practice. Her academic credentials include a PhD in Clinical Medicine from Aarhus University (awarded April 23, 2020), a Master of Health Science from Aarhus University (awarded May 6, 2012), and a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from VIA University College (awarded January 19, 2007). Since October 1, 2023, she has held an external position as Docent at VIA University College.
Dr. Jacobsen's research focuses on rehabilitation, musculoskeletal disorders (particularly hip dysplasia), epidemiology, physical activity, low back pain management, sports medicine, and general practice research. Her work bridges clinical practice and academic research, with strong emphasis on evidence-based interventions for musculoskeletal conditions. She has established herself as a specialist in hip conditions, with particular expertise in hip dysplasia management for both surgical and non-surgical patients.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on hip dysplasia in athletes, physical activity interventions, and innovative approaches to musculoskeletal pain management. She has been particularly active in developing and evaluating exercise-based interventions for hip conditions and exploring social prescribing models for physical activity promotion.

Dr. Jacobsen is actively involved in several major research projects including 'Interdisciplinary collaboration in general practice to improve the management of non-specific low back pain (BackinLife),' 'PreserveHip: Efficacy of periacetabular osteotomy followed by progressive resistance training compared to progressive resistance training as non-surgical treatment in patients with hip dysplasia,' and 'MoveMOM: Physical activity following pregnancy and childbirth.' She has supervised numerous research activities and has been an active lecturer at international conferences on topics related to hip dysplasia and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
