Julie Hannah is a Lecturer at the University of Essex's Essex Law School and Director of the International Centre on Human Rights and Drug Policy. She co-founded the Centre for Mental Health, Human Rights, and Social Justice, focusing on intersections of medicalisation, criminalisation, and human rights. Her research emphasizes drug policy, mental health rights, and social justice. From 2015-2020, she was Senior Advisor to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Health.
