Julie Golomb is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University, affiliated with the College of Arts and Sciences. She holds roles in the Center for Cognitive and Brain Sciences and the Neuroscience Graduate Program. Her research focuses on visual perception, attention, memory, and eye movements, using neuroimaging and computational methods. She earned her PhD from Yale University and completed postdoctoral work at MIT before joining Ohio State in 2012.
Education:
- PhD in Neuroscience, Yale University (2009)
- MS in Neuroscience, Yale University (2005)
- BS in Neuroscience, Brandeis University (2004)
Research Interests: Dr. Golomb investigates how visual properties like color, shape, and location are perceived and coded in the brain. Her lab explores interactions between attention, memory, and eye movements, with a focus on spatial remapping and feature-binding errors. Techniques include fMRI, EEG, and gaze-contingent eye-tracking.
Key Awards:
- Mid-Career Faculty Excellence Award (2023)
- Sloan Research Fellow (2014)
- APA Distinguished Scientific Award (2019)
Lab & Collaborations: Her lab, the Vision & Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, supports diverse research projects funded by NIH, NSF, and others. Current grants focus on neural mechanisms of visual stability and spatial cognition. She advises over 20 graduate and undergraduate students, emphasizing collaborative, inclusive research.
