Julie Fletcher

Dr Julie Fletcher is a Senior Lecturer in Humanities and Social Sciences within the First Year College at Victoria University, where she has supported student transition, retention, and success since 2012 across disciplines including Community Development, Social Work, and International Studies. Previously, she taught at the University of Ballarat and Deakin University.

Her educational background includes a PhD from Deakin University, a BA (Hons) from the University of Ballarat, and a BA from the University of Melbourne.

Fletcher's research centers on cultural politics, human rights, and life narrative as non-violent social action, with deep expertise in Tibetan diaspora testimonial practices and transnational social movements. Her pedagogical work explores active learning, inclusive transitional frameworks, and critical relational approaches to first-year education. This dual focus bridges humanities scholarship with practical educational innovation.
