Julie Broggi is an Associate Professor at Aix Marseille University, affiliated with the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacochemistry. She leads the Radical Pharmacochemistry (PCR) Team, focusing on the design and application of Organic Electron Donors (OEDs) in therapeutic and materials chemistry. She also serves as the Communications Manager of the Institute of Radical Chemistry (UMR 7273).
- Education: Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) in Chemistry.
Research interests revolve around the synthesis and reactivity of nitrogen-containing heterocycles with σ- and π-donor properties. Her work explores stable latent OED precursors and their applications in medicinal chemistry (e.g., antimalarial agents) and polymer chemistry (e.g., radical polymerization, n-type dopants).
Publication trends highlight her expertise in metal-free reduction methodologies, with recent articles addressing N-heterocyclic carbenes, fluorine chemistry, and radical catalysis. Her team develops innovative applications for OEDs in pharmaceuticals and polymeric materials.
- Scientific Awards: Junior Member of the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) for 2025–2030.
Teaching activities span Pharmacochemistry and Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Therapeutic Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences. Her team includes PhD and Master’s students working on OED synthesis and applications.
Funding for her research is provided by undisclosed organizations, supporting projects in radical chemistry and pharmaceutical innovation.
