Julie-Anne Long is a Senior Lecturer in Dance Performance at the School of Humanities, Macquarie University. Holding a PhD from UNSW (2010) and an MA (Hons) from UWS Nepean (1999), she has over three decades of experience as a dance artist, academic, and arts organizer. Her work spans performance creation, academic supervision, and community engagement initiatives.

Research Interests
Her research focuses on identity and representation of the performing female body, art and the everyday, participatory and site-specific performance practices, and the potential of dance to lead interdisciplinary collaborations. She explores embodied learning, choreographic methodologies, and the animation of historical and spatial contexts through performance.

Academic Leadership
She has supervised numerous PhD/MRes students including Vicki Van Hout and Kate Maguire-Rossier. Her 2014-2017 role as Chair of Readymade Work Inc. and ongoing Board Member position at FORM Dance Projects highlight her commitment to expanding dance opportunities in Western Sydney.
