Dr Julie-Ann Hulin is a Research Fellow at the College of Medicine and Public Health, Flinders University, affiliated with the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute. Her work focuses on molecular biosciences, particularly the role of drug-metabolizing enzymes in cancer biology and gene expression regulation.
- PhD, Flinders University (2016)
- BSc (Hons), Flinders University (2009)
- BSc, Flinders University (2008)
Her research explores UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) enzymes, emphasizing their sex-specific expression, pharmacogenetic implications in diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, and contributions to cancers such as triple-negative breast cancer. She utilizes bioinformatics and RNA-seq analysis to study transcript variants and their deregulation in tumors.
Julie-Ann has received multiple awards, including the Flinders Foundation Health Seed Grant (2018), the College of Medicine and Public Health Early Career Researcher Award (2018), and scholarships from the Australian Stem Cell Centre and Flinders University. Her recent publications highlight UGT enzyme modulation, alternative splicing mechanisms, and vasculogenic mimicry in cancer.
- Flinders Foundation Health Seed Grant (2018)
- Flinders University Vice Chancellor's Prize for Doctoral Thesis Excellence (2017)
- Best student poster, Australian Society for Stem Cell Research (2014)
