Juliane Borosch is a Researcher in the Department of Anglophone Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen, affiliated with the UA Ruhr graduate research group 'Scripts for Postindustrial Urban Futures: American Models, Transatlantic Interventions.' Her doctoral project examines industrial heritage sites in transnational urban development contexts, comparing Detroit and the Ruhr region. Between 2021-2022, she was a visiting scholar at Wayne State University's Department of Classical and Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, and a resident scholar at the Humanities Center there.
Education: Combined BA in History and Anglophone Studies, and a combined MA in American Studies and Literature and Media Practice from the University of Duisburg-Essen (MA completed 2018).
Research focuses on intersections of cultural production, urban transformation, and media representation. Her MA thesis analyzed televised urban narratives in '#OneChicago.' Current work explores postindustrial urban futures through creative and sustainable development frameworks.
