Dr. Julian Koch is a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies, University of Copenhagen. His research focuses on the interplay between poetic imagery, translation, and philosophical thought, with particular emphasis on 20th-century European literature. He holds a PhD from Queen Mary University of London, where his thesis examined the poetics of Paul Celan and André du Bouchet, exploring their approaches to translation and the role of the image in poetry. Koch’s work extends into film studies, analyzing documentaries like The Act of Killing through ethical and philosophical lenses. He also investigates the history of imagination and continental philosophy, including the works of Kant, Schelling, and Maimon. His recent publications address genocide representation, ethical dilemmas in perpetrator narratives, and the theoretical foundations of reenactment in documentary film.
