معرفی
Julian Karsten is a Researcher at the Institute of Plastics and Composites, Technical University of Hamburg (TUHH). His research focuses on materials science and engineering, with particular emphasis on composite materials, additive manufacturing, and structural health monitoring. He collaborates on projects such as the Hopper initiative (2023–2025), developing sustainable lightweight vehicles, and studies multifunctional polymers through in-situ structuring of polymer morphology (2019–2020).
Research Interests:
- Development of advanced composites for fire safety and mechanical performance
- Optimization of additive manufacturing processes for thermoset materials
- Integration of nanomaterials for structural health monitoring systems
Collaborative Projects:
- Hopper Project: Innovating sustainable vehicle design with solar energy systems (Project Lead: Bodo Fiedler)
- Multifunctional Polymers: Exploring polymer morphology manipulation (Collaborators: Katharina Kröning)
Key Contributions: His work spans experimental and analytical studies on composite joint behavior, fire ignition modeling, and nanosensor-based damage detection in adhesively bonded structures. He has published extensively on topics ranging from lyogel swelling kinetics to CFRP laminate properties.
Affiliations: Based in Hamburg, his office is located at TUHH Campus Building K, Room 3516. Contact via julian.karsten@tuhh.de.
