JProf. Dr. Julia von Ditfurth is a Junior Professor for Medieval Image and Cultural Studies at the University of Freiburg and Corpus Vitrearum Medii Aevi. She has been a member of the Medieval Centre of the University of Freiburg's Board of Directors since 2021. Her academic journey includes a 2010 Master's thesis on the Rochus retable in Rostock's St. Mary's Church and a 2015 doctoral dissertation on baroqueization processes in medieval women's convents.

Research Interests: Her work focuses on Medieval and Early Modern Art, including the re-semanticization of medieval art, architecture-furnishing interactions, women's convent art, medieval manuscripts, and stained glass. She leads the GlassAge transdisciplinary project (with University of Freiburg's English Department, Institute of Microsystems Technology, and Byzantine Archaeology) and co-founded the Cultures of Use and Reuse international network.

Her publications span monographs, edited volumes, and articles on topics like medieval stained glass, manuscript reuse, and baroque transformations. She teaches courses on Gothic architecture, digital humanities, and interdisciplinary object studies.
