Dr. Julia Schneider is a Research Associate at the University of Hohenheim’s Center for Organic Farming (ZÖLUH), serving as Project Coordinator for the Baden-Württemberg-funded research program on Organic Farming since 2019. Previously, she led a DFG-funded international project on boreal forest ecosystems’ methane budgets at the University of Koblenz-Landau (2012–2019). She holds a PhD in Landscape Ecology from the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald (2011), focusing on CO2 flux dynamics in boreal peatlands. Her expertise spans ecosystem research, greenhouse gas dynamics, and organic farming’s impact on soil properties. She teaches courses like Agroforestry Systems in Central Europe and Organic Crop Production. Key projects include the SENSE initiative (2022–present) on resource efficiency and GHG mitigation through circularity. She applies remote sensing and field data to study agroecological systems, emphasizing climate adaptation and sustainability.
- Education: PhD in Landscape Ecology (2011), Diploma in Geography (2005) from TU Dresden.
- Research Interests: Agroforestry, organic farming practices, soil health, and climate change mitigation.
Her work bridges ecosystem science and agricultural innovation, with recent publications on agroforestry systems’ resilience to water variability and climate adaptation strategies.
