Julia Reichert

Julia Reichert serves as a Visiting Professor in the Exhibition Design & Scenography program at Karlsruhe University of Art and Design (HfG Karlsruhe), while simultaneously holding the position of co-director at Theater Neumarkt in Zurich since 2019. Born in Munich in 1983, she has established a significant career across German and Swiss theater institutions since 2008, including Munich Kammerspiele and Theater und Orchester Heidelberg.

Her professional focus centers on contemporary theater as a social art form, with particular emphasis on expanding institutional theater operations, performative learning methodologies, and situational understanding. Reichert has pioneered the concept of an "unconditional theater" that integrates theater, academic exploration, playground dynamics, and digital innovation. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges traditional theatrical practices with contemporary design thinking and audience engagement strategies.

Her notable recognition includes:

• "Play of the Year" award for the production "EWS," which she co-directed with Piet Baumgartner and was invited to the Swiss Theatertreffen

Reichert maintains an extensive teaching portfolio across multiple institutions including the Academy of Arts in Munich, Zurich University of the Arts, and Bern University of the Arts. Her collaborative network spans prominent artists and collectives such as Ivna Žic, Lubna Abou Kheir, Daniela Ortiz, Theater Hora, the SEADS Collective, and the Center for Spatial Technologies/Forensic Architecture, reflecting her commitment to innovative, boundary-pushing artistic production.
