Dr Julia Mikolai is a Lecturer in Quantitative Population Geography/Demography at the School of Geography and Sustainable Development, University of St Andrews. She leads the UKRI-funded ChildLives project, investigating children's life courses. Previously, she held roles as Senior Research Fellow on the ERC-funded MigrantLife project and Research Fellow at the ESRC Centre for Population Change Scotland. Her research focuses on family dynamics, fertility, residential mobility, and longitudinal data analysis with a cross-national lens.
Educations:
- PhD in Social Statistics and Demography from the University of Southampton
- Studies at Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary), Utrecht University (Netherlands), and the European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD).
Research Interests: Children’s life trajectories, partnerships and families, fertility patterns, residential mobility, housing dynamics, and cross-national comparative studies. She employs advanced longitudinal methods to analyze life course transitions and their societal impacts.
