Julia Metag is a Full Professor of Communication Science at the Department of Communication, University of Muenster, Germany, since 2019. Previously, she held professorial roles at the University of Fribourg (2016–2019) and was a Senior Research Assistant at the University of Zurich (2013–2016). Her research focuses on science communication, political communication, media use effects, and online communication. She completed her PhD in 2013 on political communication and direct democracy.
Education: Studied Media Studies, American Literature, and Geography at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (Germany) and Mary Immaculate College, Limerick (Ireland). Professional Activities: Served as Secretary of the Environmental Communication Division of the International Communication Association (ICA, 2016–2018) and Vice Chair of the Political Communication Division of the German Communication Association (DGPuK, 2018–2020). Member of the Swiss Academies' expert group on science communication (2019–2021).
