Julia Menard-Warwick is a Professor in the Department of Linguistics at the University of California, Davis, specializing in second language acquisition, language ideologies, and gendered identity development. Since her 2004 appointment, she has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, and language pedagogy.

Her research explores translingual practices, discursive constructions of identity, and sociocultural dimensions of language learning through ethnographic and narrative methodologies. She has conducted longitudinal studies on bilingual parent participation in divided school communities and critical analyses of English language teachers' cultural identities in California and Chile.
Recent publications focus on raciolinguistics, heritage language education, and multilingual identity formation. Awards include Fulbright Scholar recognition (2022-2023), the UC Davis Graduate Student Association's Excellence in Service Award (2020), and the Modern Language Journal's Best of MLJ Award (2021).
