Julia Marshall is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cognitive and Psychological Sciences at Brown University, leading the Mind & Morality Lab. Her research focuses on the foundations of human moral and social cognition, particularly in childhood. She investigates how moral concepts like fairness and justice develop across cultures, using experimental methods with children aged 4–12 and adult populations. Key areas include third-party punishment, cross-cultural moral development, and the origins of prejudice.
Education: BA in Psychology (Emory University, 2015); PhD in Psychology (Yale University, 2020). Postdoctoral work as an NSF fellow at Boston College. Her lab employs developmental science and behavioral economics to study cooperation and moral reasoning.
