Julia M. Mikhailova

Julia M. Mikhailova is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University, with affiliations in the Program in Plasma Physics and Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment. She holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Lomonosov Moscow State University (2007). Her research combines experimental and theoretical approaches to study ultra-intense ultrafast laser-matter interactions, including high-harmonic generation, plasma-based particle acceleration, and attosecond pulse control.

She has received numerous awards, including a Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Experimental Physics Investigator Award, Kavli Frontiers of Science Fellowship, and U.S. Department of Energy Early Career Award. Her work has demonstrated innovations in plasma gratings for laser contrast enhancement, magnetized plasma amplification, and waveform-controlled harmonic generation. She teaches courses on plasma physics and ultrafast optics and mentors students in high-energy density science.
