معرفی
Professor Julia Gorelik is a Professor of Cellular Biophysics at the National Heart & Lung Institute, part of the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College London. Her research bridges biophysics and cardiovascular science, focusing on nanoscale imaging techniques like Scanning Ion Conductance Microscopy (SICM) combined with FRET to study cardiomyocyte function. She holds affiliations with the British Heart Foundation Centre for Research Excellence, the Chemical Biology CDT, and the Membrane Receptor Network.
Dr. Gorelik earned her Ph.D. in Cell Biology from St-Petersburg's Institute of Cytology, Russian Academy of Science (1996), and collaborated extensively with Prof. Yuri Korchev to develop SICM applications for cardiac research. Her work explores arrhythmias, heart failure mechanisms, and receptor localization in cardiac cells.
Her research interests include biomechanics of the heart, ion channel physiology, and nanotechnology-driven diagnostic tools. She has pioneered techniques to simultaneously measure cardiac contraction, calcium dynamics, and receptor distribution, with recent focus on cAMP/cGMP signaling pathways.
Notable achievements include the 2010 Imperial College Research Excellence Award. Her collaborations span multiple disciplines, including chemical biology and regenerative medicine, reflecting her role in interdisciplinary networks like the Stem Cell Regenerative Medicine Network.
