Julia Fehrer

Dr. Julia Fehrer is an Associate Professor of Innovation and Strategy at the University of Auckland's Faculty of Business and Economics, where she also serves as Co-Director of the Circular Economy in Business Research Centre and Academic Lead of the Disciplinary Area Innovation and Strategy. She contributes to editorial boards of the Journal of Service Management, Journal of Service Theory and Practice, and AMS Review.

Her educational background includes a PhD from the University of Bayreuth, a Master's from Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration, and a Bachelor's from Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences.

Fehrer's research sits at the intersection of strategy, service research, and innovation, with a focus on market and ecosystem innovation as catalysts for digital and societal transformation. She has pioneered work on circular service ecosystems, market shaping, and digital service innovation, contributing significantly to both theoretical development and practical applications in the circular economy.

Her publication portfolio demonstrates a clear trajectory toward systemic understanding of service ecosystems, circular business models, and market shaping processes. Recent work shows increasing focus on sustainability transitions, particularly in the context of New Zealand's plastic industry, where she leads a major transdisciplinary project.
