Julia Abel

Prof. Dr. Julia Abel is a Professor of Library Education and Cultural Education in the Information Society at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Design, Media and Information, Department of Information and Media Communication. Her office is located in Room 258 at Finkenau 35, 22081 Hamburg.

Education:

• Doctorate in literary studies
• Studied German, philosophy, general and comparative literature, educational sciences, and German as a second language in Bochum, Wuppertal, and Paris

Prof. Abel's research spans multiple dimensions of cultural and literary education in the digital age. Her work focuses on innovative approaches to library education, media storytelling, and narrative research, with particular attention to children's and young adult literature, comics, and graphic novels. She explores how these mediums can be leveraged for cultural education and literacy development in an increasingly digital information society.
