Brigetta Abel serves as Associate Professor of German Studies and Director of Writing at Macalester College, where she has been a faculty member since 2000. Her institutional affiliation spans both the German Studies program and the Serie Center for Scholarship and Teaching.

She received a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to develop Grenzenlos Deutsch, an open-access digital German textbook. As Director of Writing, Abel pioneered campus initiatives including Write Well instructional videos and the Supplemental Writers’ Workshop, while teaching across the German curriculum and leading Vienna study abroad programs with specialized courses like "Sex and the (German) City" and "Vampires: from Monsters to Superheroes."
