Jule Schmidt is a Researcher at the Department of General Primary School Education within the Department of Education and Psychology at the Free University of Berlin. She has been actively contributing to the BMBF-Verbundprojekt GeLeGanz since October 2021, focusing on educational equity and extended education systems.
Her academic background includes a Master of Arts in Educational Science from the Free University of Berlin (2020), where her thesis examined teacher professionalization through the 'Let's play Schule' project, and a Bachelor of Arts in Educational and Educational Science from Philipps-Universität Marburg (2017).
- MA: Educational Science, Freie Universität Berlin (2020)
- BA: Educational and Educational Science, Philipps-Universität Marburg (2017)
Her research centers on extended education quality, all-day school development, and teacher professionalization, with particular emphasis on socially disadvantaged students and migration backgrounds. She investigates how structured after-school programs impact educational equity and student development across diverse national contexts.
Her 2022-2023 publications reveal a strong international comparative focus, analyzing extended education effectiveness through qualitative syntheses and cross-country frameworks. Key themes include educational equity for migrant students, policy implications of shadow education, and quality assessment methodologies in German extended education settings.
She is actively involved in the BMBF-funded GeLeGanz project, which examines educational success and social participation of disadvantaged students in extended education environments. Her work connects with the broader EduCare research program led by Prof. Schüpbach, which has received Swiss National Science Foundation support for studying day school quality and effects on primary children.
As part of the Collaborative Project GeLeGanz team, she contributes to the EduCare research program's international network, participating in WERA TASK FORCE conferences and EARLI symposia focused on extended education for disadvantaged students globally.
