معرفی
Prof. Dr. Jukka Jokela is a Full Professor of Aquatic Ecology at ETH Zurich's Department of Environmental Systems Science (since 2005). He holds positions within D-USYS and leads research focused on evolutionary responses to environmental change, host-parasite dynamics, and sexual reproduction mechanisms in aquatic organisms.
Education:
- Bachelor's/Master's in Hydrobiology, Limnology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, and Statistics (University of Jyväskylä, 1982–1989)
- PhD in Ecological Zoology (University of Turku, 1990–1993)
Research: Investigates short-term evolutionary adaptations, host-parasite coevolution, and ecological factors driving local adaptation in aquatic populations. Long-term work explores sexual reproduction advantages in mixed clonal/sexual populations.
Career: Postdoctoral fellowship at Indiana University (1993–1995), Senior Assistant at ETH Zurich (1996–2000), Privatdozent (2000), and Senior Research Fellow (Academy of Finland, 2000–2005). Maintains active collaboration with Prof. Curt Lively.
Labs/Teams: Leads research groups at ETH Zurich and former positions in Finland, focusing on aquatic ecological systems.
