Juensung Kim is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, affiliated with the Department of Clinical Psychology & Experimental Psychopathology under Prof. Brian Ostafin. His research focuses on self-transcendence, wisdom cultivation, and the intersection of spirituality with psychological well-being. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto (2023), MA (2017), and BA (2016) in Cognitive Science and Philosophy.
Key research interests include the influence of esoteric practices on wisdom, awe's role in truth perception, and the impact of philosophical/spiritual education on moral aspirations. His doctoral work, supported by the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship, explored shifts in student personal projects through educational interventions. Additional projects include pandemic-related psychological adaptation and psychedelic microdosing effects.
Collaborative efforts span cross-cultural studies on spirituality-wellbeing linkages and neurocognitive correlates of wise advising. His work bridges existential psychology, developmental science, and clinical applications.
