Judy Upshaw

Judy Upshaw is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at Sam Houston State University (SHSU), where she has been since 2013. She joined as the Director of Nursing Labs and later assumed her current role after completing her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from The University of Texas at Arlington. Her clinical expertise spans operating room nursing, home health, long-term care, and correctional nursing.

Her academic contributions include teaching Fundamentals of Nursing, nursing skills laboratory modules, and managing a J1 clinical group. She has also instructed Health Assessment courses. At SHSU, she has served on key committees such as the Executive Committee, Lab Committee, and Curriculum Committee within the School of Nursing (SON).

Community engagement includes former Board membership at the SAAFE House in Huntsville and current Board membership at Huntsville Memorial Hospital. She previously acted as interim Director of the Joe G. Davis Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program in Huntsville before joining SHSU.
