Judith Wylie is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at Queen's University Belfast (QUB), specializing in Cognition, Development, and Education. She holds a BA (1989) and PhD (1993) from QUB. Her academic career includes post-doctoral research on environmental education and systems thinking in children, followed by roles in The QUESTOR Centre addressing environmental communication challenges. She was appointed Lecturer in Cognitive Psychology in 2001.
Research Interests: Cognitive processes applied to educational contexts, development of reading/math abilities in children with typical/atypical trajectories, bilingual cognitive/linguistic processing. Current projects include collaborations on formulaic language (with Hong Kong/Japan/Malta/Russia) and Irish-medium education's impact at Dublin City University.
Teaching: Teaches cognitive psychology across all undergraduate levels, coordinates a final-year module on literacy development, and supervises MSc projects on child development and adversity.
Awards: 2023-2024 Innovation in Teaching Fund recipient (€5.8k).
Service: Examinations Officer, School of Psychology; chairs Internationalisation & Recruitment Committee; member of EPS Faculty International Working Group and University Collaborative Provision Group.
