Judith Stoddart

Judith Stoddart is an Associate Professor of English at Michigan State University's College of Arts and Letters, serving as Interim Associate Provost of Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School. Her research explores Victorian literature, print and visual culture (painting, photography, exhibitions), and evolving concepts of subjectivity. She is currently working on a book, Pleasures Incarnate, examining 19th-century circulation of bodies/objects in aesthetic contexts.

Stoddart also researches doctoral student career development and attrition reduction. As project director for the Council of Graduate Schools Ph.D. Completion Grant, she designs initiatives to enhance doctoral completion rates. She co-organizes conferences on academic/non-academic careers and contributes to conflict resolution training for faculty/students.

Courses taught include ENG310C (Literature: 1789–1900), ENG459 (Victorian Studies), ENG481 (Modern Critical Theory), and ENG886 (Modern Criticism).
