Professor Judith S. Olson is a leading researcher in the Informatics Department at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), with courtesy appointments in the School of Social Ecology and the Merage School of Business. Her work focuses on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), and the challenges of remote collaboration, including productivity loss and social barriers.
Her research addresses critical issues in distance collaboration, as outlined in her seminal paper Distance Matters (2000) and her books Scientific Collaboration on the Internet (2008) and Working Together Apart (2014).
