Judith Prins

Judith Prins is a Professor of Medical Psychology and Head of the Department of Medical Psychology at Radboud University Medical Centre Nijmegen. She also serves as the Scientific Director ad interim of the Radboud Institute of Health Sciences. Her academic career spans over three decades, with roles including Associate Professor (2006–2009) and departmental leadership since 2007. She obtained her PhD in Medical Science from the University of Nijmegen in 2003, focusing on chronic fatigue syndrome and developing psychological therapies. Her research has pivoted to psycho-oncology, pioneering web-based interventions for cancer patients.

Her research group is internationally recognized for work on fear of cancer recurrence, adolescents/young adults with cancer, and digital health solutions. She chairs the Netherlands Behavioural Medicine Federation and contributes to oncology guidelines. Notable awards include the Knight of the Order of the Dutch Lion (2020) and multiple publication accolades.

Prins has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles and led major clinical trials like the SWORD and BREATH studies. She advocates for patient-centered care and has navigated controversies, including threats during her CFS research. Her work blends clinical practice, education, and translational science to improve psychosocial outcomes in oncology and chronic illness.
