Judith Linsley is the Curator of Interpretation and Education at the McFaddin-Ward House and a former Adjunct Professor in the Department of History at Lamar University. She also served as the former Director of The Center for History & Culture of Southeast Texas & the Upper Gulf Coast. Linsley holds a BA in Spanish (1967) and an MA in History (1977) from Lamar University.
Her educational journey began at Lamar in 1964, where she experienced a close-knit campus environment with strict dormitory policies and vibrant liberal arts programs. She emphasized the importance of her education, crediting her master’s degree for shaping her career in history and cultural preservation.
Research interests include regional history, cultural heritage interpretation, and education. She has contributed to documenting student life in the 1960s, including social dynamics, desegregation challenges, and academic experiences in STEM and liberal arts.
Linsley remains involved with Lamar University’s legacy, reflecting on her positive educational trajectory and the institution’s evolution. Her work at the McFaddin-Ward House and the Center for History & Culture underscores her commitment to preserving Southeast Texas’ historical and cultural narratives.
