Judith Howard serves as the Rae Schupack Nathan Professor of Dance in the Department of Theater and Dance at Carleton College, where she has held a faculty position since 2007. Her work bridges performance practice, choreographic innovation, and theoretical exploration of the dancing body within academic and artistic contexts.

Research Focus
Professor Howard investigates dance as embodied cultural knowledge through courses examining the body's role in meaning-making (Reading the Dancing Body, The Body as Choreographer) and cross-cultural dance practices (Cultures of Dance). Her pedagogy emphasizes experiential learning through repertory creation and student choreography.

She directs the Semaphore Repertory Dance Company (DANC 350), guiding students through full production cycles across academic terms.
