Judith Hawley is a Professor in the Department of English (17th and 18th Century Literature and Culture) at Royal Holloway, University of London. She holds a DPhil from the University of Oxford, focusing on Tristram Shandy. Her research spans eighteenth-century literature, cultural history, and interdisciplinary studies of food and heritage preservation. She co-directs the RAPPT research network on amateur performance and chairs the Pope's Grotto Preservation Trust. Her work bridges academic scholarship with public engagement, including radio appearances and collaborations with historic properties.
Research interests include Bluestocking circles, private theatricals, satire, and the intersection of literature with science and sensory culture.
