Prof. Judith Daniels is a Professor of Clinical Psychology and Rosalind-Franklin Fellow at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences, leading the Clinical Psychology & Experimental Psychopathology Department. She holds adjunct roles at Psychologische Hochschule Berlin and directs the Fortbildungsinstitut für Sekundärtraumatisierung. Her research focuses on trauma-related disorders, dissociation mechanisms, neuroimaging, and secondary traumatization among therapists.
- Education: PhD in Psychology (University of Bielefeld, 2006), postdoctoral training at Hamburg’s University Hospital Eppendorf, Western University (Canada), and Charité Berlin.
- Current roles: Associate Editor of Journal of Trauma and Dissociation, Task Force Chair for Revictimization (DeGPT), and program committee member for Research Master’s programs.
Research interests include PTSD neurobiology, dissociative disorders, and the psychophysiological underpinnings of trauma responses. She has published over 94 peer-reviewed articles and leads projects on ecological momentary assessment, neuroimaging mega-analyses (via ENIGMA consortia), and validation of trauma assessment tools.
Notable awards include the Forschungsförderpreis der Elfriede Dietrich Stiftung and a psychotrauma care grant. She supervises PhD candidates O.F. de Haart and Nicolás García Mejía. Teaching responsibilities span clinical diagnosis, victimology, and therapeutic skills.
