Dr. Judith Aponte, PhD, RN, CDCES, CCM, PHNA-BC, FAAN is a tenured Associate Professor and Specialty Director of the Community/Public Health Nursing Program at Hunter College's School of Nursing, City University of New York (CUNY). As the first Hispanic graduate of Columbia University’s Nursing PhD program (2004), she combines clinical expertise with academic leadership in diabetes research targeting Hispanic populations.

As Editor-in-Chief of Hispanic Health Care International and leader in organizations like the National Association of Hispanic Nurses and American Diabetes Association, she bridges academic research with community advocacy. Awards include the 2016 Nurse Leader of the Year, multiple CUNY scholar awards, and Fellow status at the New York Academy of Medicine (2012).
