Judith 't Gilde

Dr. Judith 't Gilde is an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences and affiliated with the LEARN! - Learning Sciences group at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research focuses on acculturation processes in educational settings, particularly for ethnic minority students in superdiverse primary schools. She investigates how teachers can leverage students' cultural and social resources ('funds of knowledge') to improve educational outcomes and foster inclusive classroom environments.

Her work integrates qualitative methodologies such as focus groups and action research, contributing to topics like teacher practices, student well-being, and curriculum design. She has published a monograph on inclusive teaching strategies and received the ÖFEB Dissertationspreis in 2022.
