Jude Webre is a part-time Lecturer in the Department of History at Columbia University, specializing in political and intellectual history of the modern U.S. He holds a PhD in History from Columbia University (2017), with a focus on the intersection of creative expression and radical democratic movements in the mid-20th century. His research examines the adaptation of European literary modernism into American culture, particularly how radical affiliations influenced aesthetic ideologies.
Since 2013, he has taught courses in History, American Studies, and Literature Humanities at Columbia University, Yeshiva University, NYU-Gallatin, and BISR. Beyond academia, he has served as a researcher and consultant for organizations such as Robert Caro, the Office for Metropolitan History, Goethe-Institut, and Civic Spirit. Additionally, he is an accomplished performing bassist in rock and jazz bands in New York since the early 2000s.
