Jude Kurniawan is an Adjunct Lecturer and Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Social Sciences (SOSS) at Singapore Management University (SMU), specializing in Sustainability and Governance. He holds a PhD in Geography (2020) and MA in Climate Change (2014) from the University of Waterloo. His research focuses on sustainable energy transitions, climate change adaptation, and participatory foresight methodologies.
Dr. Kurniawan’s work spans multiple regions including Kenya, Malaysia, Chile, Jordan, and Singapore. He develops innovative frameworks for energy policy analysis, scenario planning, and stakeholder engagement. Notable areas include decarbonization pathways, urban mobility systems, and cross-sectoral SDG modeling. His methodological contributions include semi-automated literature reviews and network analysis for scenario assessments.
He teaches courses on Environmental Policy and Sustainability Reasoning at SMU. His recent research highlights weaknesses in corporate climate adaptation commitments and proposes systemic scenario approaches for improvement. Ongoing projects address participatory urban planning methodologies and resilience in complex energy systems.
