Jude Fitzgibbon

Jude Fitzgibbon BA, PhD is an Honorary Professor specializing in blood cancer research, affiliated with the Centre for Cancer Evolution Research. She holds a Visiting Professorship at Semmelweis University Budapest Hungary (2019–Present) and maintains significant industry and academic leadership roles including VP of Heme Discovery at AstraZeneca (2022–2024).

Her research focuses on the molecular pathology and genetic evolution of leukaemia and lymphomas, integrating genomic profiling to develop precision diagnostics and targeted therapies. Key areas include identifying driver mutations in lymphoid neoplasms, epigenetic therapeutic strategies for mutant lymphomas, and germline contributions to familial myeloid malignancies.

Recent publications reveal a strong emphasis on translating genomic insights into clinical applications, particularly for lymphoid cancers. Her work bridges basic cancer evolution mechanisms with practical tools for risk stratification and treatment selection, demonstrating consistent leadership in international collaborative oncology research.

Professor Fitzgibbon has secured major competitive funding including a £1.6M Cancer Research UK Accelerator Award (2018–2023) as UK Follicular Lymphoma lead and a £1.9M Cancer Research UK Programme Award (2017–2022) as Co-PI for poor-risk AML research.
