Juana Estrada Hernandez

Juana Estrada Hernandez is an Assistant Professor of Printmaking at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Born in Zacatecas, Mexico and raised in the U.S., her work explores Hispanic migrant experiences through printmaking, ceramics, and installation art.

Her research integrates Mexican folklore, family migration narratives, and social justice themes. Notable exhibitions include Las semillas... (Roswell Art Museum 2023) and New Voices (Print Center New York 2023). Awards include the Southern Graphic Council Fellowship and SITE Scholars Award.

Recent works address cultural identity through maize symbolism, border narratives, and collaborative projects with international institutions. She completed a residency at Megalo Print Studios (Canberra, 2023).
