Juan Pablo Arab

Dr. Juan Pablo Arab is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Western University, with cross-appointments in the Department of Medicine and Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He is a specialist in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Transplant Hepatology, focusing on clinical/translational research and epidemiology in alcohol-related liver disease (ALD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Trained at the Pontificia Universidad Católica, Chile, and Mayo Clinic, USA, Dr. Arab has published over 180 peer-reviewed papers and co-authored book chapters in hepatology.

His research interests include liver cancer, cirrhosis, and the interplay between metabolic disorders and liver disease. He leads international collaborations like AH-LATIN, STELLA, and the Global AlcHep BigData Network. Scientific roles: Associate Editor for Hepatology, Chair of AASLD’s Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease SIG, and Chair of ILTS’s Education & Scholarship Committee.
