Juan C. Vasquez is a Professor and Co-Director of the Center for Research on Microgrids (CROM) at Aalborg University, Denmark. He holds a B.S. in Electronics Engineering from the Autonomous University of Manizales (2004) and a Ph.D. in Automatic Control, Robotics, and Computer Vision from the Technical University of Catalonia (2009). His academic career includes roles as Assistant Professor (2011–2014) and Associate Professor (2014–2019) before becoming a full Professor. He has held visiting positions at Virginia Tech’s CPES and Ritsumeikan University, Japan.
His research focuses on microgrid operation, advanced control strategies, energy management systems, IoT integration in smart grids, and maritime microgrids. He has authored over 649 publications and secured significant grants, including the EU-funded projects EU-DREAM (2024–2027) and NEST (2024–2026). He is an IEEE Senior Member and serves as an Associate Editor for journals like IET Power Electronics and IEEE Access.
