JuEun Lee is an Associate Professor and Chair of Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly Humboldt. She holds a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University with expertise in surgical technology, biomechanical engineering, and thermal analysis. Her research focuses on optimizing bone drilling processes, surgical tool design, and human motion analysis in dynamic environments.
Education: Ph.D. Mechanical Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University; M.S. Industrial & Operations Engineering (University of Michigan); M.S. Mechanical Engineering (Seoul National University); B.S. Mechanical Engineering (Korea University).
Research Highlights: Dr. Lee’s work addresses thermal and mechanical challenges in surgical procedures, including bone drilling for orthopaedic and neurosurgical applications. Her lab, STAD, develops predictive models and medical devices to reduce iatrogenic trauma. Recent projects include collaborations with dental schools and defense agencies.
