Professor Jozsef Laszlovszky is a leading academic in Medieval Studies at the Central European University (CEU), holding full-time positions in the Department of Medieval Studies, Doctoral School of History, and Cultural Heritage Studies Program. He also serves as Head of the Cultural Heritage Studies Program. His research focuses on medieval archaeology, the Mongol Empire, historical seismology, and interdisciplinary historical methodologies. Laszlovszky has contributed to over 100 publications, including seminal works on the Battle of Muhi (1241), the Mongol invasion’s Eurasian context, and legislative frameworks for archaeological heritage in Hungary. He collaborates internationally, leading projects like the interdisciplinary Mongol Invasion Research Group. His work bridges archaeology, history, and policy, emphasizing community engagement and digital heritage preservation through 3D scanning technologies. He is affiliated with CEU’s Medieval Studies, Historical Studies, and the Center for Eastern Mediterranean Studies.
