Joyce Westerink

Joyce Westerink is a part-time Professor in the Human-Technology Interaction group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), holding the chair on Wellbeing and Psychophysiology. She maintains a long-term role at Philips Innovation & Strategy since 1985, bridging academic and industrial research. Her work focuses on applying psychophysiological principles to improve human wellbeing through technology, spanning healthcare, lifestyle, and workplace applications.

Education:

• MSc in Experimental Physics, Utrecht University (1985)
• PhD in Engineering, TU/e (1991)

Research Interests:

• Psychophysiological measurements for wellbeing assessment
• Wearable technology for stress and arousal monitoring
• Affective computing in healthcare and user interfaces

Advising & Grants: Supervised numerous master's and PhD students while leading projects at TU/e and Philips. Her research emphasizes translational outcomes beneficial for both industry and academia.
