Joyce Mesch

Joyce Mesch is a Professor and Assistant Chair of the Toy Design Program at Otis College of Art and Design, where she has taught since 2003. With over 30 years of experience in the toy industry, she has collaborated with major companies like Mattel, Fisher-Price, and Disney, and created iconic brands such as Little Mommy and Cabbage Patch Kids. Her interdisciplinary background includes glass art, voice acting, and inclusive design advocacy.

• Education: Glass Major at California College of the Arts, New York City design classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and a certification in Diversity and Inclusion from Essec Business School.

Her research focuses on fostering creativity in toy design, integrating inclusive design principles, and bridging industry needs with academic training. She emphasizes hands-on learning through corporate-sponsored projects and mentorship, preparing students for real-world challenges in the toy sector.

The 2022 publication highlights her contributions to Otis College’s Toy Design Program, reflecting her expertise in design education and industry impact. Her work spans preschool design, dolls, games, and soft toy vehicle patents.

She advocates for inclusive play and has shaped industry trends through her collaborations with leading toy companies.
