Dr. Joyce Chiu is a Research Fellow at the School of Medical Sciences, University of Sydney's Faculty of Medicine and Health. She pioneers research in mechano-redox biology, focusing on disulfide bond dynamics in vascular processes.
Her investigations span thrombosis regulation, angiogenesis, inflammation, and metabolic pathways, employing proteomic methods to quantify redox changes at atomic resolution. She discovered novel regulatory mechanisms for secreted protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) in thrombosis and neutrophil migration.
Dr. Chiu's recent publications demonstrate how mechanical forces and redox reactions cooperatively regulate integrin-mediated cell adhesion and directional movement under flow conditions, with implications for cardiovascular therapeutics.
